Many models include STEP files.\u003C\u002Ftd>\u003C\u002Ftr>\n    \u003Ctr>\u003Ctd>Thingiverse\u003C\u002Ftd>\u003Ctd>UltiMaker\u003C\u002Ftd>\u003Ctd>The oldest and largest archive. Quality varies more, so read the comments and check the \"makes\" before you commit.\u003C\u002Ftd>\u003C\u002Ftr>\n  \u003C\u002Ftbody>\n\u003C\u002Ftable>\n\u003Cp>Our import box accepts links from all three. MakerWorld and Printables links import directly: we fetch the file and price it. Thingiverse links show the model card, but you may be asked to download the file from Thingiverse and drop it on the quote page. The import box also recognises Cults3D, Thangs and MyMiniFactory links. Those sites don't allow direct downloads, so we show the model card and a short guide: download the file there, then drop it on the quote page.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch2 id=\"step-by-step-importing-a-link\">Step by Step: Importing a Link\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\u003Ch3 id=\"1-copy-the-model-page-url\">1. Copy the model page URL\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\u003Cp>Use the address of the model's main page, not a link to a single image or a collection. On a phone, use the share button and choose \"copy link\".\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch3 id=\"2-paste-it-on-the-quote-page\">2. Paste it on the quote page\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\u003Cp>We load the model card, which shows the title, designer, licence, and the files and print profiles available. On MakerWorld, it also shows the colour count, estimated print time, weight and number of plates. You can search MakerWorld directly from the same box if you don't have a link yet.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch3 id=\"3-choose-the-right-file\">3. Choose the right file\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\u003Cp>Many designs include several files: different sizes, optional parts, or a multi-colour and a single-colour version. Files marked \u003Cstrong>\"Instant price\"\u003C\u002Fstrong> can be priced straight away. Files marked \u003Cstrong>\"Needs slicing\"\u003C\u002Fstrong> need processing first, which takes a little longer. If a design is split into several plates, check you've picked every plate you need. A lamp with no base isn't much use.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch3 id=\"4-map-the-colours\">4. Map the colours\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\u003Cp>If the model is a multi-colour 3MF, we create one colour slot per filament the designer used. Tap a slot and the preview highlights exactly where that colour ends up, so you can match it to a colour we stock. If you'd rather keep things simple, most multi-colour models also print well in one colour.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch2 id=\"check-the-licence-before-you-order\">Check the Licence Before You Order\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\u003Cp>Free to download doesn't always mean free to do anything with. The model card shows the licence, and it matters:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cul>\n  \u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Personal-use and non-commercial licences\u003C\u002Fstrong> (including Creative Commons \"NC\") are fine for printing something for yourself or as a gift. You can't sell the prints.\u003C\u002Fli>\n  \u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Commercial-friendly licences\u003C\u002Fstrong> (such as CC BY) allow selling prints, usually with credit to the designer.\u003C\u002Fli>\n  \u003Cli>Some designers sell a separate \u003Cstrong>commercial licence\u003C\u002Fstrong>. If you plan to sell what you print, buy it.\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003C\u002Ful>\n\u003Cp>If you're ordering for a business, an event giveaway or resale, check this first. It's also good manners to post a \"make\" or leave a boost for the designer. They made the file available for free.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch2 id=\"pick-the-right-material\">Pick the Right Material\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\u003Cp>Designers often print in PLA because it's easy, but the right material depends on where the part will live:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cul>\n  \u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>\u003Ca href=\"\u002Fmaterials\u002Fpla\">PLA\u003C\u002Fa>\u003C\u002Fstrong>: display pieces, desk items, toys, cosplay details. Stiff and crisp, but it softens around 60 °C, so don't leave it in a parked car.\u003C\u002Fli>\n  \u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>\u003Ca href=\"\u002Fmaterials\u002Fpetg\">PETG\u003C\u002Fa>\u003C\u002Fstrong>: anything that gets handled, gets wet or sits near a window. Some designers publish several sizes; others expect you to scale the model yourself.\u003C\u002Fli>\n  \u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Missing parts.\u003C\u002Fstrong> Read the description for hardware you have to supply yourself, such as magnets, screws, bearings or LED strips. We print the plastic parts only.\u003C\u002Fli>\n  \u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Ignoring print-in-place notes.\u003C\u002Fstrong> Articulated models and hinges are designed around particular tolerances. The designer's own profile, which comes with many MakerWorld imports, usually works best.\u003C\u002Fli>\n  \u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Paying for colour you don't need.\u003C\u002Fstrong> Colour changes add time and purge waste. If nobody will notice the second colour, one colour is cheaper.\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003C\u002Ful>\n\u003Ch2 id=\"what-does-it-cost\">What Does It Cost?\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\u003Cp>You pay for the material used and machine time, with a $2 minimum order. Printing several copies together brings the per-unit price down. A small phone stand in PLA usually costs a few dollars.
